The budget override, including its process and implications, is complicated and takes work to understand.
The Town of Southampton has provided several documents as well as video conversations with key departments to help residents understand it all more clearly.
The documents include detailed budgets for each of the 3 scenarios (no override, $1.9 million override, $2.6 million override) and the tax increase calculations for the override options.
The videos include conversations with the Police Department, the Edwards Public Library, and the Council on Aging. Additionally, there’s a video explaining the Town’s line items for insurance and fixed costs (maintenance, heat, trash, phones, etc.)
Additionally, Town Administrator Scott Szczebak will be hosting information sessions to help explain the budget and answer questions.
